Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI)

Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI) is a comprehensive intervention to treat children with gross motor impairments. At KPL we have therapists who are trained in DMI.

Goal of DMI is to provoke a specified active motor response from the child in response to specific defined exercises provided by the therapist.  DMI stimulates neuroplasticity to facilitate new neuronal connections and development of motor milestones. Like all techniques DMI is not always appropriate for every child and needs to be selected carefully following assessment.

Children diagnosed with any type of motor delay including conditions such as Hypotonia, Cerebral Palsy, global developmental delay, genetic conditions, Neuromuscular conditions or acquired brain injury may benefit from this treatment approach.
